Mad Studies 4 April 2024

(Lived Experience Practitioner Focus)

  • From 1 British pound
  • Zoom

Service Description

Sofia Jeppsson and Paul Lodge and are professors of philosophy who are open about their experiences of Madness. Sofia has wrestled with experiences of what she calls ‘the demon world’ since childhood, and Paul received a bipolar diagnosis after an experience of mania in his twenties. In this mad studies meeting they will present and facilitate discussion on their paper "Strategy, Pyrrhonian scepticism and the allure of Madness" which describes how Pyrrhonian scepticism has helped them. The paper can be read by copying & pasting this link into your browser: https://bit.ly/3VDb5dV ******************************************** Mad Studies has always been free - if you would like to attend for free, please select 'Pay in Person'. The costs for the site, marketing and Zoom hosting have increased and I will be losing my employed income soon, so I have had to add in a section for voluntary donations if anyone feels so inclined. No pressure though - the group was always supposed to ensure that knowledge is available without a paywall. ***** For ongoing activism on Survivor/LXP Led Funding, here are a few resources: ‘Widening cross-disciplinary research for mental health’: what is missing from the Research Councils UK mental health agenda? - D. Walter: https://tinyurl.com/2bmr8dwu Tweet by Tamar Jeynes: https://tinyurl.com/2ctef98z Tweet by Nev Jones: https://tinyurl.com/3a3fvfe2 ***** Please book your FREE place so that we have an idea of numbers to expect and can send you details of the papers being considered and Zoom details.
