Mad Studies Meeting 2 Dec 2021
- Zoom
Service Description
Are you a Lived Experience Practitioner (LXP)? (Mad) Academic? Student? Clinician? Service User? Carer? Come and join us - Mad Studies is for everyone :-) Mad Studies Birmingham is passionate about Mad Knowledge & Mad Literature. We are very excited to be welcoming Professor Peter Beresford who along with Professor Jasna Russo has co-edited The Routledge International Handbook of Mad Studies (Routledge International Handbooks). This tome of a book contains chapters by many authors we have welcomed previously and who join us regularly, as well as many authors we haven't yet met. We will be considering his introduction, which is a chunky text that rollercoasters through a crash course of what Mad Studies is, its activist roots and history, its future opportunities. It is also the perfect opportunity to ask Peter about his experience as an editor, working with people who were writing chapters for the book. If any of our members who have written chapters for the handbook attend, it will make for a great discussion. You can buy the book at the link below. It is an extremely text, but is on sale with 30% off until Weds 1 December. There is also an ebook available which is much more affordable: https://www.routledge.com/The-Routledge-International-Handbook-of-Mad-Studies/Beresford-Russo/p/book/9781138611108 If you have any difficulties being able to access the reading, please let Tamar know in the booking form. This month's we will also have a catch up about the chapter we will be writing for the Mad Studies book edited by Dr. Toby Brandon, due to be published next year. We will be allowing extra time for this - we have an allocated writing committee, but Mad Studies attendees are also welcome to stay for this half. 2021 Dates: 2 Dec
